My mother died a year ago today.
Theresa Lang was 90 years old, and beloved by so many people.
A month before she died she received an Honorary Doctorate from her alma mater, Marymount College. The graduation ceremony was at Lincoln Center's NY State Theater. It was packed to the rafters with excited graduates and their families.
My mother spoke extempore after receiving her degree, and her speech, which was funny and full of life and hope, and altogether remarkable, went right to the hearts of everyone in the hall.
I remember thinking that she had just made a couple of thousand new friends and admirers! What a gift she had with people.
I think of her every day.
I miss her quite a lot today.

First Blog Entry!

Hello out there.
I'm new to this, so bear with me .
I thought I would give this a try; tell you what I'm doing, what I'm about to do, what I'd like to do.
It is a little late in the day to start this. Literally, not figuratively. It's almost bedtime. But my wife and, most especially, my eldest son have prevailed on me to get started.
I'll keep it short.
It was a sunny and hot day - altogether fine. I rode my motorcycle to the gym. I worked out. I wrote two scenes for the epilogue of an almost completed screenplay. I agreed to go work in Vancouver for a brief time. I cooked a tasty dinner of chicken fajitas. I had a cocktail with my wife. I took the three dogs for a good, long walk.
Mundane and, as I said, altogether fine.
I think that I'll get the hang of this.
